Who can enrol in the M.I.?

Who can enrol in the Knights at the Foot of the Cross?

How do I enrol in the M.I.?

Life after M.I. enrolment

Baptised members of the Catholic Church who are at least 7 years old can enrol in the Militia of the Immaculata.

Already consecrated to Our Lady according to another formula (e.g., Saint Louis de Montfort) or via the Crusade of Mary Immaculate (CMI)? You are most welcome to renew your consecration and enrol now in the M.I.!

M.I. members who especially carry a cross of suffering in body, mind, or spirit can also join the Knights.

  • Already a member of the M.I.? Join the Knights through the Knights enrolment form.
  • Not yet a member of the M.I.? Enrol in the M.I. and indicate in your enrolment form that you also wish to join the Knights.

Our members are empowered to be responsible for their own spiritual formation as inspired by the spirituality of the M.I. The M.I. International Centre provides annual general guidelines (in Italian) for the formation of members. Click here for some resources for post-Consecration formation.

By God's grace, the M.I. is returning after a hiatus here in Great Britain and Ireland. Soon, we hope to regather old members and welcome new ones to:

  • M.I. Villages: regular local meetings for youth, families and adult members
  • Local retreats and international pilgrimages to Marian or Kolbean sites
  • Ministry with the sick, the disadvantaged, the incarcerated, and any in need of the love of Christ and the Immaculata
  • Presentations on Our Lady and St. Maximilian in schools and parishes
  • Writings and media promoting Marian consecration

If Our Lady is calling you to help rebuild the M.I. in Great Britain and Ireland, please e-mail us. No contribution is too small, and all ideas are welcome!

  • Step 1: Select the Date

Select the date for your Total Consecration to Mary. This will also be your enrolment date, i.e. the date when your name will be recorded in the M.I. official register. Members have customarily chosen Marian feast days. Click here for a list of suggested enrolment dates.

If you have already been consecrated to Our Lady through a different formula or via the Crusade of Mary Immaculate (CMI), you are most welcome to renew your consecration on your M.I. enrolment date.

  • Step 2: Contact the M.I.

Contact us through the M.I. enrolment form. The M.I. will send back to you a Certificate of Enrolment and a blessed Miraculous Medal.

If you also wish to join the Knights at the Foot of the Cross, you can indicate that in the same enrolment form. You do not need to fill out a separate form.

  • Step 3: Prepare for Consecration

To prepare for consecration, we especially recommend praying the Rosary daily, meditating on the Holy Bible, engaging in spiritual reading (particularly texts relating to the Blessed Virgin Mary), and attending daily Mass. Click here for resources for spiritually preparing for Total Consecration.

Shortly before making your Total Consecration, it is also strongly encouraged that you make a sincere and well-prepared Sacramental Confession.

  • Step 4: Total Consecration

On the day of your Total Consecration and M.I. enrolment, attend Holy Mass (if possible) and recite the Official M.I. Act of Consecration composed by St. Maximilian Kolbe. If you are also joining the Knights at the Foot of the Cross, recite a second Official Act of Consecration for the Knights.

Subject to the usual conditions, a plenary indulgence is granted by the Church for enrolment in the M.I. This special gift was bestowed on the Association by Pope Pius XI in 1926.

  • Step 5: Renew the Consecration

M.I. members and Knights deepen our self-offering to the Blessed Virgin Mary through praying short daily renewal prayers and for the monthly M.I. intentions from the M.I. International Center.

As a sign of belonging to the M.I., we also wear with faith and give out Miraculous Medals, which St. Maximillian strongly recommended as a sign of Mary’s maternal concern for each human being (Kolbe Writings 21). Click here to find out more about Miraculous Medals.
